Very nice park to get away from the city life of Omaha. I wouldn't say it's as nice as the mountains but that's just a personal preference. The park and trails are kept in good shape, and was great for our day hike. The overlooks were a lot of corn and soybean fields but that's Iowa and Nebraska for you. Like I said, beautiful for some, but I would much prefer the rugged untamed land of the mountains.
I had a little issue with the camp hosts and the shower facility was not up to par. Making a double wide stall with hand rails and a high and low shower head doesn't make it handicap friendly. I had to stand on my one leg and hang onto the hand rails with one hand while trying to wash with there other without slipping and falling. You need a shower bench or chair for people who can't use their legs or don't have two to stand on.
We really enjoyed visiting over the Labor Day weekend. Beautiful area with some great attractions near by if hiking the trails isn't your thing. Staying in the cabins was great, and will definitely go back in the future.
Small campground, in a mostly non-wooded area. There are not many non-reservable modern sites, and the reservable ones didn't seem quiet flat enough for tents. The bathhouse was the cleanest I've been in.
Beautiful campground. Our site was marked with our name. I would have given it a 5 star if they had not left the picnic table in the middle of the drive-thru site.
